Rules
In Italy WEEE is regulated by the Decree Law n. 151 of 2005.
The licence law acknowledges some of the directive issues from the European Union , for the reduction of dangerous substances in Electric, and Electronic Equipment (2002795/EEC_ RoHS, Restriction ofHazardous Substances) and the disposal of rubbish which has been generated by the same appliances, called WEEE (2002/96EEC and 2003/108EEC).
In regards the Legistrative Decree 151/05, the crux of the matter, is to what extent the responsibility of the producers lays, with the recycling system of electronic and electrical products which ahve been put on the market and have now ended their life span.
For the producers, and this means anyone who produces, imports and sells electronic or electric products with their own brand-name in Italy, a series of logistic responsibility and control in WEEE.
- WEEE collection from pick-up points;
- transportation and submission of the undersigned to the treatment plant;
- the disposal of the non recycable parts with no risk for the enviroment or the inhabitants.
Apart from directly involving the producers, the legistrative law attributes a specific job to everyone involved in the WEEE cycle. Distributers and Towns.
The Distributers are asked to collect the WEEE free of charge if an equo purchase has been madeAt thie present time, the free ritiral by the distributers is subordinate to the coming into force of a specific decree, which at the present is being defined., while the Towns are asked to to provide Pick-up Points for WEEE products.
